Why Watchepedia? What is it?

We help you find the time!

I like watches from the very expensive to a $200.00 quartz watch. (I never show watches I don’t like.) It all comes down to the design, detail and then the movement and then the design & detail of the movement. Sometimes its the movement and functions and then the design of the watch and the dial, but design is always the key. The people behind the watches are also a major part of my watch passions. The people tell the stories and with great purpose promote their passions.

A Ulysse Nardin with a bad movement would still get me interested because of the UN Designs. A Vacheron “Overseas” is sort of like a holy grail to me. I have never owned one but I will. There are a few other holy “Horo” grails too.

I fall in love with beautiful women every day in the same way I fall in love with watches. When I was a young man I had a thing for Citroen cars. I still love the old ones. I can tell you every thing about them. Too bad they are no longer here in the US.

It is not the name or where it’s made. It’s “ONLY” if it captures me and I have to look at it. What goes on in my mind that I have to stop, gawk and stare is still a mystery to me but I know what I like and I like to know all about what I like.

Design is everything, detail is second, movements are either at the top of the list or not. Bad detail with a good design is a disaster and will never be on this blog. (I hate the word “Blog.” and this is the last time I will use it.)

So, why Watchepedia? It began as a way  to promote watches and to create a trade show for watches in the US. That all ended when I heard, (never verified) that SIHH was going to do a Trade show in the US. which I found out later they are not doing, but I ended the original Watchepedia for no reason, other than from bad information and rumors. I foolishly bought all of it and made a mistake.

Now I intend to show my favorite watches and watch companies. Most will be smaller independent companies who create fantastic watches and want to reach the public because of their own passion and to make a living.

We will also act as a middle man for a few companies and sell or act as a broker for their products. These products will be in the Collector Den.

I will do this as long as it remain fun and if there are others who like the informality of watchepedia. Version 3.0 which is being worked on will include video and be on its actual URL

If you like watchepedia or do not like it, let me know.
