ORIS and the BC4 Flight Timer
I have a few watches hanging around. A diver or two, an alarm watch, a dress watch, a bum around type watch, two or three of this or that and basically one for every occasion.
It's kind of important to a watch guy that he wears the correct watch, for the right occasion.
At the Opera you don't want to be wearing a sports watch that's larger than what your cuffs will allow, even if does have $5000.00 worth of diamonds on it nor do you wear bling to the beach. There are certain protocols.
A watch with a leather band always seems more dressy than a metal band or a rubber strap.
If your a fireman you really don't want to wear a watch that is not water proofed to some degree.
If you wanted the perfect Pilots Watch what would it do? I'm not talking about a watch to wear while flying your personal jet but if you are a professional pilot and want the best, what would this watch look like.
You might need the UTC time always showing. UTC is the standard time used by the airlines to schedule all the pilots and to have ONE zone or time, everyone can agree on.
Then you would need of course the time of the city you are located in.
The destination time would be nice too, even if it's the same as the UTC.
The ability to change the home time conveniently, without having to be a rocket scientist to do it would be a benefit.
What about the destination time, would you want that? I would think so.
In Summary you might ask for:
1. Three time pieces in one, easily adjustable to your needs even though you might leave the UTC the way it is permanently.
2. Time at departure
3. Time at arrival
Let me introduce the ORIS BC4.
It does all of the above, its large and can be easily read, it has a compass display and it looks like a Pilots Watch.
It's more than I described and you should go to their website to get all the technical data.: www.oris.ch
Purpose:
Oris always produce watches with a purpose.
Some companies produce complications without purpose and it's all window dressing but a watch with purpose becomes a tool and an instrument to depend on.
THe Blue Angles are wearing this watch and that impresses even me.
It looks good too and will not allow you to wear your tux shirt over it, even with cufflinks
This is a Pilots watch. A flying machine you can wear on your wrist.
Thanks for watching
Urich
NOTE: It's not too often I'll show the same watch company within a short period of time but this BC4 got to me. After looking at it for a while it started to come alive and really communicate its purpose.
It really is a PILOTS WATCH.
