The Patravi Chrongrade.

I smile when I hear or see the name
“Carl F. Bucherer” because I know who is behind the Company and who will not be happy with anything less than “perfect.”

No, it’s not the founders back in 1888 or those who have been creating fine timepieces and Jewelry for over 100 years but the people who are responsible for the launch of this world wide watch brand, “Carl F. Bucherer.”

I know Ron Stoll. Ron is a passionate watchmaker and a determined CEO and President of CFB in the US.

CEO, Thomas Morf is absolutely into the design, form, the technology of watchmaking and is a mechanic first, which in my book, is one of the highest compliment you can pay to anyone. I’m not describing the guy who works on your car, but a true Mechanic. Someone who can think with gears, springs and levers and THEN have the courage to actually make something work and bring it to market. Not everyone can do that.

THe Patravi Chronograde is a “Complete Timepiece.”

Note: I was going to do this story on the Manero ”Tribute to MaBu,” MaBu is Max Bucherer, 1883-1974, the brother of Carl F. Bucherer.

Photo on the left shows the MaBu using a rare caliber, an original Valjoux 92, from the 1950s. This watch, with a stunning movement is nicely put together and has a vintage look about it. There are only 100 pieces made. Stunning both in design and historical reference. Its a watch to own. I’ll do a story on this watch later.

From their own description: “The original vintage Valjoux 92 calibers went through a time-consuming process of reworking. The movement can be seen through the transparent sapphire crystal back. The case is made of rose gold. In order to maintain the tradition, the Carl F. Bucherer designers have selected a high double domed sapphire crystal and the five hands rotate over an equally true-to-style, curved and complicated-to-produce dial made of solid sterling silver.”

Patravi Chronograde:
44mm
Annual Calendar
Chronograph ..........Flyback
Big Date
Power Reserve indicator
Retrograde hours indicator
Stainless Steel case
Screw down crown
Screwed back with sapphire Crystal
Water resistant to 50m

It’s complete!

The dial design is simple, keeping a familiar and easily readable configuration, showing the retrograde hours indicator on the bottom left quadrant, the power reserve sub-dial just above the “6.” The month indicator is to the right of the power reserve.
The date window is exactly the correct size to balance off, all that is showing below the 9 to 3 center line.

Quality, superb watchmaking, elegant design and craftsmanship.

Thanks for watching.
