Watchepedia offers an informal look at the entire spectrum of fine timepieces, watches and accessories.

John Banovich, world famous wildlife painter.     http://www.johnbanovich.com/ In collaboration with The Montana Watch Company, www.montanawatch.com, have produced a few masterpieces that have to be seen.

“The Montana Watch Company has found it’s niche in producing custom, built to order watches, decorated with the highest level of fine hand engraving, including “bulino” style portraiture.

The John Banovich studio is located less than five minutes from ours and it took the awareness and insistence of our mutual customers (primarily from our affiliation with the Safari Club International) to wake us up to this unique and now obvious collaboration.

The task was for our master engravers to take the artwork from these huge (some 10’x10’) oils and faithfully reproduce them onto a metal dial blank (silver, gold, palladium,) that is between and inch and an inch and a half in diameter.

The result was a 15 piece edition, 3 of each of the African “Big 5” big game animals, rendered from 5 of John’s most sought after  paintings.

We were incredibly pleased with the 1st five watches, which were unveiled in January to very warm reception at the Safari Club International’s annual Reno convention.  The remaining 10 watches in the series will be custom commissions, built to order using the same original artwork.

We are also creating custom executions utilizing other Banovich artwork on an individual basis.  The watches are all, of course, machined and built one at a time by Jeffrey Nashan at the Montana Watch Company.”

Please go to the list on the side of this page to see each of these incredible works of art.

Thanks for watching
