I have known Dave for a number of years. Each phone call with him is a unique experience. You cannot get off the phone with him, without getting involved.
During one of our conversations we discussed psychic phenomenon, the benefits of vitamins & calcium magnesium, motor bikes and watches all in one conversation. ha
Dave is Irish, and wanted to make a tribute to the Irish with a fine looking watch with a large green clover on the dial by the “3.”
Here is the brief story about this watch from his website.
"Tribute to the Irish"
“America has much to praise for the Irish. I wanted to honor the Irish with this tribute, to my heritage,
with this new watch. I have done my very best to convey my admiration to the Irish. The Irish watch is designed, and crafted with the very best materials and workmanship I could offer…and at a price that makes it irresistible. I hope that every time you check the time, you are reminded of your history…
wear it with pride.
They were the first slaves in the new world above the Mason Dixon line. Children of the Irish and the women were chained to the mills and factories… burned to death in the rise of the industrial revolution. The Irish conquered the their captors and established the respect of the Nation. They were conscripted to fight the Civil War and died for the freedom of all men. The Irish influence in politics from Tammany Hall to the Presidency is legendary…”
NEXT: I own one of the first “Ancyent Marinere” watches. It’s very nice and always seems to attract attention. It may be the image of the Albatross, from the poem, on the dial or just the nice style with its unique besel.
Here is the description of the Ancyent Marinere from the website.
“The Ancyent Marinere features a 38 mm all stainless case with engine turned bezel treatment. This numbered production watch is serial inscribed on the edge of the case at the 9 o'clock position. The movement is the hi-grade ETA 2824 / 25 jewel quick date automatic. The crystals both front and back are of heavy sapphire to withstand extreme pressure. This piece utilizes bellows type gaskets to minimize air exchange ( breathing of the case ) - it is fitted with a screw-down crown and back. The Ancyent Marinere is named after the poem, "The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere", wherein the famous quote,
"Water, water, everywhere and not a drop to drink" originated. Inscribed inside the back sapphire glass is a similar quote Water, water, everywhere and not a drop to leak"... appears. Also inscribed on the back bezel is the reference number 05N/95W - the designer's interpretation of the location of the doldrums ( calm sea and wind ) where the Marinere's ship disaster occurred. The dial of this watch is totally unique. The number 7 has been replaced by the logo "df" and the number 1 is replaced with a stylized bird ( Albatross) from the poem. “
Note: I always make a point of visiting the d.freemont website:www.dfreemontwatches.com, just to see if there is something new and to read the latest description.
NOTE: Any watch created by d.freemont is a conversation piece and I like to talk to people.
I have not seen a d.freemont watch that I would not wear.
